Key responsibilities: Under the supervision of the WASH Team Leader, the WASH Engineer directly supports CARE Nepal’s (Earthquake) Emergency Response. The incumbent will be responsible for assessment, design and implementation of the water, sanitation and hygiene component of CARE Nepal’s emergency response. S/He will be responsible for the implementation of WASH activities including WASH needs assessments, engineering appraisal for the repair of rural water systems, providing instruction and oversight for the construction of emergency latrines and the rehabilitation of household latrines, and coordination with the Hygiene Promotion Officer.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Bachelors in Public Health Engineering or Civil Engineering with experience of implementing water and/or sanitation programs at the community level. Experience of working in Emergency Response is desirable.
