Job Description
Reports to : Principal / Board of Directors
SUPERVISE: Academic coordinators, ECA coordinator, Faculty Heads, Faculty, and students as designated by the Principal.
Qualification:
-
Master's degree preferably in English from a reputed university.

5 years of relevant experience.

Apt in training and development of faculty members.

Experienced in designing school curriculum.
Performance Responsibility:
Student Support
-
Build rapport with the students.
-
Instill a sense of belongingness to the school.
-
Foster the school spirit and the spirit of the ‘THUNDERBOLTS’
-
Ensure that the students adhere to the dress code of the school.
-
Ensure that the students are punctual to the assemblies, classes, activities, etc.
-
Inculcate good habits and discipline in the students using motivational speeches.
-
Keep records of merit/ demerit cards issued to the students.
-
Motivate the students to converse in English.
-
Motivate the students for hard work, reading habits, public speech and philanthropic deeds.
-
Encourage the students to use/contribute to school magazine, wall magazines, websites | blogs, presentation software etc. to enhance their creativity.
-
Select student leaders and train them.
-
Check students’ diaries and their exercise books on a regular basis.
-
Observe the academic progress of the students. If needed, arrange for remedial classes after consultation with the concerned students and their parents.

With the help of teachers try to detect the early signs of children requiring psychological help and discuss the same with the school counselor. Communicate the same to the concerned parents.

Visit the school infirmary on regular basis and advise the nurses to take prompt actions in case of emergencies and immediately inform the same to the concerned parents.

Visit the playground, library, labs and activities areas frequently.

Check the quality and hygiene of the food that the students are served in the cafeteria as well as in the dining hall.

Ensure that the boarders are engaged creatively before and after the school hours.

Make necessary arrangement for educational tours for the students like hiking, trekking, camping, field trips, etc.

Invite professionals from different walks of life for career counseling of students with prior approval of Principal or Director.

Create a safe and secure learning environment for the students.
-
Conduct safety drills (with the help of experts) both for the residential and non-residential students.
-
Ensure the students are safe in the school buses.
-
Enrich the extra-curricular programs for students by conducting various encouraging events and competitions.
Teacher Support
-
Build a rapport with the faculty.
-
Ensure the attendance of teachers to school, classes, staff development seminars, departmental meetings and other school events.
-
Assist in providing professional growth opportunities for the faculty by arranging trainings and workshops.
-
Ensure that the teachers are punctual for classes and other school activities.
-
Prepare a schedule to thoroughly check the lesson plan of the teachers.
-
Prepare a schedule and observe the classes of the teachers once per term and provide honest evaluation.
-
Conduct performance evaluation of teachers based on existing evaluation guidelines on a terminal basis and provide detailed review of the same.
-
Provide the latest curriculum developed by the CDC to faculty and encourage them to be abreast with it.
-
Encourage the faculty to adopt child-friendly teaching methodologies.
-
Encourage the faculty to adopt positive reinforcement methods to discipline the children.
-
Encourage the faculty to use Internet facilities available in the library or resource room to search the educational materials available in their concerned subject.

Ensure that the question papers of terminal examinations are set at least 15 days prior to the examination.

Maintain the confidentiality of the question papers and other official documents.
-
Ensure that all examinations are conducted in free and fair manner.
-
Ensure that the evaluation of answer papers are done fairly and the result of the examinations are error free.
-
Conduct parent-teachers’ meetings after the first and second terminal examinations and prepare the report.
-
Create a safe and secure teaching environment for the faculty.
Administrative Duties
-
Assist the Principal in providing effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the instructional programme.
-
Build rapport with the parents, local people and the officials of MOE (Ministry of Education), DEO (District Education Office), CDC (Curriculum Development Center) and OCE (Office of the Controller of Examinations).
-
Always seek approval of Director(s) before sanctioning major financial transactions.
-
Assist in the productivity of Detention classes, making sure corrective measures are taken to discipline the detained students.
-
Assist in implementing educational laws and regulations formulated by the MOE.
-
Assist in preparing the Flash Reports as per the need of the District Education Office.
-
Assist in preparing the academic calendar.
-
Assist in the preparation and implementation of the class routines.
-
Assist in communicating and clarifying the school’s mission to students and staff.
-
Assist in the supervision, observation, and evaluation of teachers and staff.
-
Prepare the term wise appraisal of the faculty of the secondary level.
-
Grant leave to the teachers, issue Gate Pass and update the Human Resource Department of the same.
-
To teach maximum of 16 periods per week (regular or substitution classes).
-
In absence of the Principal, undertake his/her duties and responsibilities.
