Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Consortium Manager, this is a senior level position who will be responsible for leading the DRR component in the projects, provide strategic support in the area of Urban DRR, provide technical support and backstopping to partners, capacity building of different target groups, network with stakeholders notably the private sector, support the target municipalities during disaster and contingency plan formulation processes and ensure that all activities are implemented as per the project documents. S/he will be serving as a technical Urban DRR and Emergency preparedness resource person . S/he will support on Urban DRR and responsible for contributing to the enhancement of urban resilience with the principle of “Building Back Better” by supporting planning, implementing and disseminating experiences in different platforms. S/he will also assist in designing Urban DRR systems, procedures, framework, tools and guidelines. The position is based in Kathmandu, Nepal with frequent field visits.
Required qualifications and competencies:
Post graduate in DRR or relevant subject with 5 – 7 years of relevant work experience in design and implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction or other related areas in an Urban Context. Practical experience and knowledge on global and national DRR related policies and practices, core humanitarian standard, rights based approach, gender and social inclusion. Excellent coordination, networking and facilitation skills are highly required. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken in English and Nepali. Experience of working with the private sector is extremely important.
