CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in the country for the past 38 years. It currently works in 44 districts through various programs on issues relating to improving the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through programs that work on the following themes: food security and climate change; emergency preparedness and DRR; migration and urbanization; sexual reproductive and maternal health; gender based violence; women and girls’ leadership. Marginalized Women and Adolescent Girls are our two primary impact groups. Core priorities include investment in the empowerment and leadership of women and girls, reaching hard to reach population, good governance and accountability, working in partnership and alliance with like-minded actors, and evidence-based advocacy. 

CARE Nepal hereby invites applications, for the below mentioned position, from interested Nepalese candidates for a three year DfID funded SAFE Justice project that aims to promote a culture of more active justice seeking behaviour by challenging social norms which hinder the process and build trust between poor and marginalised communities in particular vulnerable groups within those communities and formal and informal justice providers, in order to enable marginalized populations to access justice.

1. Team Leader (based in Kathmandu)
 

Key responsibilities:
The Team Leader is responsible for leading the Safe Justice project to ensure effective implementation in transforming social norms to enhance access to justice by the poor vulnerable and socially excluded (PVSE) groups, especially women and girls. S/he will provide strategic direction to the project team on reducing social barriers to create an enabling environment primarily focusing on behavior change. The Team Leader is also responsible to coordinate with various levels of the Nepal police (local, district to national) for effective implementation of the project.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Law and legal studies or a relevant degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 5 years of working experience in the field of human rights with transitional justice and right to information in Nepal. Experience of working with the local authorities, especially the police is desired.
