Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall technical direction and management of the project, providing guidance and support to the project team to achieve expected deliverables and indicators.
  • Provide technical leadership to ensure high quality programming to achieve project results; ensure that the technical assistance provided by the project is effective and sustainable.
  • Oversee project planning (work plans and budgets) and reporting.
  • Manage project budget to meet expected results, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Oversee project monitoring and evaluation; ensure that project impact reporting requirements are met.
  • Ensure close coordination with other relevant initiatives/programs in country.
  • Serve as Pact’s liaison with DFID, the Government of Nepal, and partners.
  • Ensure effective application of internal controls, and adherence to DFID, and Pact policies and procedures.
  • Represent Pact at conferences, working groups, and meetings to support Pact’s thought leadership in livelihoods and economic empowerment programming in Nepal and the region.


Basic Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a relevant field such as economic development, project management, international development, or other relevant field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of technical and managerial experience in economic development, economic empowerment or other relevant livelihood interventions.
  • A minimum of 5 years working in Southeast Asia.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior level management and leadership position, including direct supervision of staff, program management, and technical leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi‐million dollar donor-funded complex projects.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with DFID/Nepal, host government partners at the national and state levels, and personnel within the project.
  • Experience managing DFID contracts and grants.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Director and/or Team Leader/COP experience in large economic development programs—particularly those focused on improving the lives of women and girls—is strongly preferred.
  • Experience implementing or managing economic development programs in Nepal.
  • Experience supporting and managing grants to local organizations implementing economic development programs.
  • Nepali language skills.
