Job Description

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership & Management

  • Supervise and mentor monitoring staff, including scheduling shifts and on-call rotations.
  • Conduct training, performance evaluations, and foster a collaborative team culture
  • Manage SNMU team members and look after queries of the team.
  • Verify and overlook all the tasks done by SNMU team.
  • Overlook and monitor if the information flow to respective stakeholders in case of issue arousal is done perfectly.
  • Segregate daily tasks to the team accordingly.
  • Verify if the tasks have been completed and done perfectly or not.
  • Verify if IOPS incidents, Google docs reporting is being maintained properly.
  • Maintain and manage the datacenter in Jawalakhel.
  • Overlook the issues and promptly solve any kind of issues related to Jawalakhel datacenter.
  • Guide, help and train team members.

2.  Monitoring & Incident Management

  • Oversees 24/7 monitoring of servers and networks using available tools like MRTG, CheckMK, Zabbix, Libre NMS, Cacti, etc.
  • Lead Incident response, ensure timely resolution and escalated issues as needed.
  • Ensure usage, capacity, availability of all the networking devices is monitored properly.
  • Overlook all internal and international links.
  • Overlook all the devices within the network which includes Routers, Switches, OLT’s.
  • Constantly verify if all the monitoring systems (Check MK, Cacti, Zabbix, MRTG, Smokeping, RANCID, IOPS monitored hosts, Libre NMS) are up to date and devices along with all necessary links are monitored properly.
  • Cross verifies if the tasks posted in under SNMU department are completed with proper closure.

3. Technical Oversight

  • Stay updated on emerging technologies to enhance monitoring
  • Collaborate with network/system team on root cause

4.  Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain logs, generate performance/availability reports, and update documentation like
  • Cross verifies the documentation/reporting done by SNMU team for incidents occurring in network.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.

6. Collaboration

  • Liaise with all department to align monitoring with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with inter department team member in case of any issue arousal.
  • Coordinate with transit providers (Airtel) via call, emails for any issues, upgrades, troubleshooting.

Job Specification

Number of Vacancy(ies): 1

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in server and network monitoring, with 1+ year in leadership or supervisory roles preferred.

Contract of Employment: Full-time

Skills and Knowledge:

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), and network architecture.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as MRTG, Check_mk, Cacti, Zabbix, Smokeping, Librenms
  • Ability to analyse traffic patterns and network performance data to identify issues proactive

    Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and
  • Ability to document and explain technical information in clear and simple terms for non- technical staff.
  • Certification(optional): CCNA/JNCIE preferred
