BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity, which uses media and communications to help reduce poverty and support people to understand their rights. We do this through partnering with civil society, media and others to produce creative programmes and other outputs which inform and engage audiences on key development issues. We also strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure. We focus on health, governance and rights, and resilience and humanitarian response. As Project Director, Nepal, you’ll manage and oversee delivery of our earthquake recovery project and help to expand our portfolio
You’ll manage and lead the delivery of our resilience work including our earthquake recovery project, Milijuli Nepali (Together Nepal), supporting the delivery of through radio programmes, outreach activities and technical support to partners. Working closely with the production and research, you’ll ensure that our programmes respond to audience needs. You will manage the project staff, build up project management capacity. You’ll also play a key role in securing new projects for the team, by building relations with donors and developing proposals
We need your considerable experience developing and managing large projects, ideally in the development sector. You’ll have experience working in international development; experience working with radio/television is desirable. With significant experience in the effective management of diverse teams, including personnel development and capability management, you’ll also have strong financial management skills, including experience of managing large budgets and knowledge of the reporting requirements of funders. You’ll have shown your ability to secure new business, present persuasively to potential partners and write successful proposals.
