RE-VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT (Ref Vacancy Number: UN-Habitat/1 -2018)
For the post of Senior Programme Officer
UN-Habitat is initiating a project on Sustainable Tourism and Green Growth for Heritage Settlements of Kathmandu Valley with the financial support of European Union under SWITCH Asia II call. The project will support local municipalities and communities in heritage conservation, livelihood enhancement, green growth and promotion of sustainable tourism. This approach will contribute towards mitigating climate change through green heritage settlement reconstruction and reducing poverty through creation of green jobs. The project is seeking for professional and competent candidates to fill the post of Senior Programme Officer (SB4/IV) under service contract, Kathmandu based initially one year contract with possibility of extension.

General Requirements:
Senior Programme Officer
Education
Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Tourism or related field.
Knowledge and skills
Knowledge and experience in heritage conservation, green growth, and livelihood related works.
Knowledge and experience in project management;
Experience of earthquake reconstruction and tourism promotion will be an advantage.
Excellent communication skills and good human relations skills, especially the ability to relate to a wide range of team members and partners;
Progressive thinking, ability to work as part of a team and also to achieve work outputs with limited supervision, and a pro-active, energetic and innovative approach to work; and
Ability to manage time in multi-tasking and conducting parallel activities, and to meet deadlines.
Experience and knowledge of the Government of Nepal and UN system is an advantage along with the understanding of local culture of Kathmandu Valley;
Good working knowledge of computer programmes including MS Word, Excel and Power Point
Years of experience
Professional :
Minimum 6 years' experience in related field.
Languages
Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Nepali.
Computer skill
Good working knowledge of computer i.e MS Word, Excel and Power Point
