Background Reorienting public finance for SDGs acceleration and leveraging additional resources in Nepal aims to leverage the competencies of the specific UN agencies at the national and sub national levels to assist the Government of Nepal to strengthen and bring alignment and coherence in the public finance management system in the areas of budgeting, Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, and inter-government fiscal transfers to support integrated financing for the SDGs. On the one hand, this will strengthen the coherence between planning and budgeting as well as ensuring increased public finance for the implementation of high impact activities contributing to multiple SDGs. This will also enhance results-based budgeting and thereby promote transparency and accountability. It will also ensure that Nepal is better positioned to attract and leverage additional resources needed to meet the SDGs at the national and sub national levels. This is a joint project of UNDP, UN Women and UNCDF with two years duration. This project has three interlinked outputs with the objective to accelerate the implementation of SDG through SDG aligned planning and resource allocation. The project outputs include:
