Reporting to: Research Manager
Coordination with : Production Teams, Capacity Building and Training and Networking, Admin, Finance & Account, Team Leaders and other R&L colleagues
With external Institutions: Audience and other relevant external institutions and individuals
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Research and Monitoring
1. Work closely with all the production teams, capacity building and training and network team for smooth operation.
2.To support the commissioning of all audience research in coordination with production teams, negotiating and liaising with research agencies and key users of the research to ensure the results are suitable to meet project needs.
3. To implement and deliver all audience research in order to ensure that activities meet quality standards and are completed within budget and deadline requirements.
4. Be involved in formulating research design, preparing and circulating RFPs/research brief (where appropriate), evaluating proposals, finalising and commissioning the research in consultation with the line manager.
5. Liaise with the teams in designing of research tools and finalization of the reports.
6. To analyze and synthesize audience research results, applications and innovations with a view to identifying lessons learned and defining best practice. Share the research findings and strategic recommendations in the most appropriate methods with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Supporting the pretesting/piloting of research instruments, as needed. Training the research agency and enumerators prior to field work. Monitoring and controlling the quality of fieldwork/data collection, project timeliness and budgets for the research projects being handled.
8. Moderating focus groups and conducting depth interviews when necessary. Continually looking at ways to improve data collection both feeding into research design, moderation and analysis of data.
B. Cooperation
1. Possess good understanding of management’s reporting requirements in terms of providing analysis and recommendation for quick understating and decision making. This includes designing ways of reporting figures in an effective and strategic way.
2. With Research Manager liaise with internal clients to determine audience research needs. Be involved in formulating research design, and using data to inform business development/new opportunities.
Working with other research team members to design and draft research instruments, particularly those used for quantitative work and monitoring and evaluation. Input and help draft research design – sampling, recruitment and logistics.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
1. Strong experience in qualitative and quantitative market/social research.
2. Experience using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
3. Strong IT skills, including Excel and PowerPoint, and experience with data analysis software packages such as SPSS or Atlas.
4. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Nepali and English.
5. Strong report writing and presentation skills, communicating complex technical ideas using non-technical language to a wide range of audiences from journalists, production staff and development practitioners.
6. Ability to plan and conduct work with minimal supervision
7. Track record of delivering research findings to deadline
8. Able to type in Nepali
