Job Description

Regional Program Officer - Humanitarian:  This is a senior level position.  The person will be part of the Programme Team and will lead on relief and recovery projects in Nepal and Bangladesh and support our partner in Pakistan. S/he will be accountable to ensure timely and adequate information on disasters whenever and wherever they occur in South Asia (including conducting needs assessments) to managers and other SARO colleagues. S/he will be mainly responsible for programme management, planning, along with implementation of the programme and partnership support.  S/he will also be responsible for programme strategy and development, quality and accountability, staff management, fundraising and resource mobilization, donor project monitoring and advocacy, networking, & influencing. S/he will support and report to the Head of Programmes.
 

  • Required qualifications and competencies:   Educational background: postgraduate degree in social sciences or related field. Minimum ten years of work experience in humanitarian response and development work of which minimum 5 years in an international organisation with similar responsibilities in humanitarian response. Should have an experience in South Asia region.  The candidate should have the ability and willingness to work in a programme/humanitarian integrated team. S/he should have strong facilitation, networking, analytical, negotiation, coordination, communications, and facilitation skills. Excellent writing and reporting skills are also a requirement. Candidates with good IT skills at an advanced user level including the Microsoft Office suite would be expected. S/he should have the ability to work in an organized and responsive manner under extreme pressure on occasion in a stressful environment. Candidates with excellent communication skills (written and spoken) in English with Nepali and Bangla (Oral) skills a strong advantage.
