CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in the country for the past 38 years. It currently works in 36 districts through various programs on issues relating to improving the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through programs that work on the following themes: food security and climate change; emergency preparedness and DRR; migration and urbanization; sexual reproductive and maternal health; gender based violence; women and girls’ leadership. Core priorities include investment in the empowerment and leadership of women and girls, reaching hard to reach population, good governance and accountability, working in partnership and alliance with like-minded actors, and evidence-based advocacy.
CARE Nepal hereby invites applications from interested candidates for a reonstruction project. The main aim of the project is to increase the number of newly built or rebuilt houses that incorporate Building Back Safer (BBS) methods in (re)construction as well as to support in broader community DRR processes.
1. Quality Assurance Officer – Reconstruction (Gorkha)
Key responsibilities:
The incumbent is mainly responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of construction activities mainly model houses and community identified projects; and support on conducting earthquake resilient mason training to craftsperson as required by the project. S/he will primarily work together in close coordination with the Project Manager, Reconstruction Manager, Emergency Response Manager, District Shelter Coordinator, and Quality Assurance Officers - DRR, GBV Officer, M&E and logistic team, program partners and staff of CARE Nepal Projects.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor in Civil Engineering with minimum of three years relevant work experience in earthquake resilience construction with relevant experience on management and delivery of mason training. S/he should have program and financial management skills and should be familiar with the government policy of reconstruction, building code and implementing strategy, retrofitting techniques etc.
