We are looking for a bright, motivated and efficient individual with some project management experience to join a highly expert team to deliver an important four-year project focused on helping Nepal address climate change and improve disaster resilience.

The Project Consultant will we part of a four-person team.  S/he will take responsibility for a number of important routine processes, so attention to detail and the ability to take responsibility are important.

The role will also support implementation of the project and is likely to involve a range of fast-moving, varied tasks to support project delivery.  Candidates should have a proactive, positive approach and good time management skills.

This is an exciting project and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the team from the start, helping to make a significant different to support government with work in climate and disaster resilience.

This project will suit a highly motivated, diligent and enthusiastic individual with existing project work experience, seeking to develop their skills and deepen their experience.

Main accountabilities

To support the Project Director and Core Team with excellent programme, contracting and financial management for the Policy and Institutions Facility project.

Specific responsibilities

Project Administration:

  • Support the monitoring of project activities.
  • Contribute to quarterly and other reporting on project activities to the client
  • Maintain project tracking tools to capture project data and documentation records through efficient and appropriate information management.
  • Track the contract and subcontract process to ensure compliance and liaise with OPM staff in Nepal, India and Oxford to ensure timely processing of contracts.
  • Ensure that partners to the project comply with the prescribed administrative system requirements.
  • Supporting the core team with administrative tasks related to external sub-contractors such as monitoring of inputs and outputs.

Financial Administration:

  • Keep project records and provide accurate and timely reporting to the Project Director and OPM Finance Manager, as required.
  • Maintain trackers of expenditure and support accurate coding of expenses in OPM’s systems, supporting the OPM Finance Manager.  Prepare information required for invoicing to the project client.

Travel and Logistics:

  • Liaise with the Logistics Manager as required to ensure project support needs are met with efficiency and effectiveness.

Support PIF delivery:

  • Providing support to the core team on project delivery.  The tasks will be linked to the aptitude of the successful candidate but could include organising project events, liaison with partners and preparing communications with stakeholders.
  • Other support to the Project Director, Team Leader and core team for implementation of the project.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • University Degree (minimum preferably to Master’s Degree level).
  • Minimum of three years full time employment in a project support function for an international NGO or consulting company working on large projects particularly funded by DFID.
  • Proven experience of administrative skills, with ability to manage a workload often to tight and conflicting deadlines.
  • Good numeracy and written English.  Confidence in maintaining budgets, project workplans and other project administration. Please note you must speak Nepail.
  • High level of competence in using software packages including Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
