Position: Programme Officer - Health (Mugu based)
Health is one of the key technical areas of UMN’s development programmes and focuses on sustainable positive change in the health of the poorest people living within poverty in Nepal. The post holder is a team member of Mugu Cluster Office as well as a member of UMN’s wider health thematic team. The main purpose of the post is to take responsibility for the overall managementof the UMN health projects in Mugu District, and give close technical assistance to the implementing NGO partners in the district to help ensure effective planning, implementation and evaluation.
Qualifications, experience, skills and attitudes:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or Community Nursing, or Proficiency Certificate in Health Sciences with Bachelor’s Degree in any Social Sciences, or its equivalent;
• 2-3 years post-qualification work in community health, preferably with experience in partnership management of local NGO partners;
• Experience of participatory planning tools and techniques, group mobilisation, and facilitation of health-related training at district level and in rural settings;
• Good computer skills, including MS-Office Package. Knowledge of database applications would be an advantage;
• Excellent language and communication skills in both Nepali and English;
• Willingness to live and work in a challenging environment and to model UMN values. Salaries and benefits will be according to the UMN Standard.
