SCAI is an Australian INGO working in Nepal for the past 10 years, in the field of child protection and development. We aim to improve the living standard of vulnerable children and families in the project areas predominantly through education. We focus on 3 core strategies; Preventing separation of children from their families through providing Education Scholarship Programs and other family support; Re-connecting and re-integrating children with their biological families and; Providing home care for children with no other option at our Residential Child Care Home.
The Program Manager will be required to work closely with the Country Director across a range of tasks as well as closely with the implementing NGO staff. The scope of the work covers 5 districts however is largely based in Kathmandu and Nuwakot.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of programs
Program research, planning and development
Work closely with government and NGO partner on the rescue, re-connection and re-integration process
Help develop child protection and youth development policies and guidelines and ensure they are effectively implemented throughout the organization and across all programs
Help equip our young adults with skills and knowledge to give them a head start in the search for employment through helping organize volunteer placements, work experience and job training
Liase with and provide general guidance and support to the children, families, staff, schools and communities SCAI works with;
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor Degree, preferably in social science or education
3+ years of relevant experience
Excellent communication skills, fluency in English (written and verbal)
Computer literate (Word, Excel)
Proven ability to work autonomously, be self-motivated, proactive and have strong leadership skills
High level of attention to detail, critical and analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to build a strong rapport with children, youth and communities from diverse backgrounds; Passionate about helping vulnerable and disadvantaged children
Candidates will be required to spend at least half of their time in the field at program sites, so need flexible working hours. Motorbike/scooter license preferred.
