Job Description

Program Associate-1(pos)

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (SFP) the Programme Associate will work closely with WFP’s School Feeding Team, and the education expert consultant to support two pilot studies- 1. School Feeding Modalities and 2. Nutrition-sensitive Literacy- in partnership with the Government of Nepal/ Department of Education. The Programme Associate will be expected to work full-time to provide support for both pilot studies. The responsibilities and time for this position will be split between the Department of Education (DoE) and World Food Programme, Nepal (WFP Nepal). The Programme Associate will act as a bridge between the two organizations in supporting joint programming and review.

General Requirements:

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:   

  • Has worked with technical teams (i.e. education and nutrition particularly school feeding)
  • Has contributed to implementation of programme
  • Has observed or assisted with policy discussions.
  • Six (6) years of experience working in the development sector 
  • Contributed to implementation of school health and nutrition programmes
  • Previous experience with education technical teams, participated in or assisted with educational policy discussions
  • Field level experience in research based projects
  • Experience analyzing data from qualitative and quantitative research studies, preferably related to education
  • Experience working on education and nutrition projects or government relations is an advantage
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with the UN or the Government of Nepal is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel to the field frequently

 

STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:  

Completion of Secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. Preferably Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, International Development or related subject.

Language:      

Fluency in both oral and written communication in the English language and in the duty station’s language, if different.
