Job Description

Position: Physiotherapist (1) based in Gorkha District Hospital, Gorkha; reporting to Project Coordinator having contract till December 31, 2017 with strong possibility of extension. Female preferred.

Position Summary:

Physiotherapist will be responsible for assessing, planning and providing physical rehabilitation and associated services to people with functional impairment/disability including children with birth defect and women with reproductive impairment to prevent mortality, morbidity and disability.

Job Description:

• Assess functional capacities and identify rehabilitation and medico-social needs of the patients/clients attended at in-door, out-door, outreach and home visits as appropriate
• Being based upon the outcomes of the assessment, elaborate an appropriate rehabilitation plan that might include provision of mobility aids, specific items and prosthesis and orthotics appliances
• Deliver safe and appropriate comprehensive rehabilitation/physiotherapy interventions for in-door, out-door, outreach and home-visits as per needs of clients in accordance with international rehabilitation standards and profes-Sional ethics
• Work collaboratively with the medical, paramedical, nursing and community based rehabilitation workers and fellow physiotherapist at hospital, PHCCs and other public and private health facilities depending upon local context

Job Specification:

• Bachelor in Physical Therapy with preference to an updated registration at Nepal Health Professional Council and membership in Nepal Physiotherapy Association (NEPTA)
• Minimum 3-4 years of practical experience in physical rehabilitation set up or hospitals
• Strong experience on the management of physical birth defect and practical knowledge on the use of assistive devices with a sound knowledge on health system of Nepal
• Exposure on rehabilitation service for reproductive health impairment will be a plus
