Position Overview:
The Officer, Marketing and Communications will be responsible for planning, development and implementation of Room to Read (RtR) Nepal’s communication and documentation department under a direct supervision of Country Director (CD). S/he will be responsible for all external communication with government, I/NGOs and similar organizations. The person will also be fully responsible for planning and leading all in country donor and site visits. S/he will be responsible for the collection and documentation all program related best practices and success stories. S/he plans, prepares and disseminates monthly/quarterly newsletter, internally and externally. S/he will be responsible to prepare periodic progress reports such as monthly, quarterly & annual reports. S/he will be responsible to visit the project sites (50-60% of field visits will be required) to document the best practices of different programs. S/he will also prepare program & general brochures and publishes the program achievements as per the program requirements and strategy. S/he will also be responsible to communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding the programs and with the media to disseminate press releases and other information.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The position will require performing the below given job responsibilities not limited to:
Coordination with Government Agencies:
Coordinate with the in line government agencies to disseminate the organization results and achievements
Liaison with Ministry of Education, Social Welfare Council, Department of Education and District Education Offices (of working areas) to develop and maintain the organization’s PR
Plan and conduct the site visits of government agencies as per the need
Coordination with Media:
Develop professional relationship and liaison with media houses to highlight the impact of our work in a more structured manner to increase our brand visibility
Build relationship with reputed Media such as TV and Newspaper to disseminate the program progress
Host journalists’ and media person’s visits in our program areas
Documentation and Dissemination:
Preparation and dissemination of program progress reports, quarterly reports, half yearly reports and Annual Report
Plan annual program documentation process and best practices in coordination with the Literacy Director (LD), Head of Operations, and Country Director (CD)
Visit program areas (will require at least 50-60% visit) to document best practices and success stories in coordination with respective program team
Prepare and implement the dissemination plan
Work with the Global team to ensure to submit case stories and success stories according to our global editorial calendar
Donor and Site visits:
Coordinate with the Global Office (GO), Country Office (CO) and Field Office (FO) to plan annual donor site visits
As per the plan, lead the donor and site visits in coordination with the program team
Preparation dissemination of Information and Communication materials:
Preparation of program and organization brochures, information and communication materials in coordination with the CO program team and GO communication team
Preparation and dissemination of monthly/quarterly newsletter
Communicates with like-minded organization and disseminates relative information to the program team
Able to work comfortably with the group as well as individually
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/ English/ Education/ Social science etc.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in documentation and communication work
Knowledge in successful implementation of documentation and communication work
Strong verbal, writing and editing skills in English and Nepali
Have ability to multi-task and set priority
Skills in managing time efficiently
Skills in manage project budgets
Demonstrate strong teamwork skills
Ability to manage and work with internal and external partners such as government agencies, I/NGOs and similar nature organizations
Ability to maintain project calendar and deliver communications within assigned deadlines
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Journalism/ English/ Education/ Social science etc.
Five plus years of related experience in documentation and communication work
Experience in developing and documenting program progress work in I/NGO
Strong planning, supervisory and PR skills
