Based: Kathmandu
Duration: 1 Year contract with extension depending on the fund availability
Context
BBC Media Action uses various forms of media and communications to tackle poverty and contribute to long-term change in some of the world’s poorest places. To achieve this, we partner with civil society, local media and governments to:
- Produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences;
- Strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure.
BBC Media Action’s office in Nepal opened in January 2007. Our current and future projects are likely to include radio and TV productions, community outreach, research and substantial media training components.
Job purpose
Reporting to the Office Manager, the Office Assistant will provide full administrative support to our office and production teams as per their needs. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting BBC Media Action’s administrative support, including processing payment. S/he will ensure that BBC Media Action operations are functioning on a daily basis and make recommendations for improvements.
Main duties
Administrative support

Provide day to day support for all BBC Media Action office maintaining attendance sheet. Keeping a log book to maintaining kitchen items, stationary items.

Managing reception duties.

Keeping a record of all the utility bills and follow up regularly.

Keep track of the post box and disperse the letters and documents to addressee.

Greet the visitors' and be attentive in the receptionist responsibilities.

Ensure of the visitor's IN and OUT record with the guard and maintain them in the computer.

Ensure that the generator and all the kitchen equipment are up to safety standards and are working fully and keep record of the usage of the generator.

Participate in trainings for the logistic support to the project team.

Assisting in procurement process.

Assisting in other office work related to administration and production as per allocation.
Production support
-
Support production teams in live events and outside broadcasts when necessary.

Assist Floor Manager and Production Manager with the technical and logistic support on the day of recording in Kathmandu.

Assisting sound technician to keep all the equipment in orderly manner.

Assist with any on location logistics demands
Essential skills and experience
-
Good English skills.

Understanding and ability to use computers. Ability to type in English and feed data in the excel sheet.

Experience in administration department will be an added point.

Genuine interest and enthusiasm for BBC Media Action aims and objectives

Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations

At least higher secondary level passed.
