Overview:
WaterAid Nepal (WAN) was established in 1987 during UN Water and Sanitation Decade, 1981- 1990. WAN has particularly a strong track record in supporting local partners for service delivery; water, sanitation and hygiene. It pioneered the service delivery role of NGOs in the sector and lately has placed an increased emphasis on learning, advocacy and influencing the sector. WAN is continuously working on water, sanitation and hygiene which are basic building blocks of public health.
After the disastrous earthquake of 25th April 2015, WAN is involved in response primarily in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) activities in 11 districts through 9 partners. It has also partnered with the Minitry of Urban Development, Child Health Division of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and other key stakeholders for a relevant initiatives. WaterAid has been able to reach to almost 100,000 people in the first 30 days of the response activities and plans to work for long-term recovery in selected areas with local communities, partners, the Government line agencies and stakeholders.
Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator

Location: Kathmandu
Job Purpose:
The key focus of this position is to coordinate overall implementation of M&E processes for WaterAid emergency response activities in the different earthquake affected districts implemented through partners. The major responsibility is to help maintain an effective planning and monitoring system, which informs reporting and project design. This will lead to quality delivery of the emergency response programme across WaterAid’s areas of implementation and increased accountability.
Scope of Assignment:
ï‚· Coordinate needs assessments with partners, other external sector agencies, ensuring assessment findings are well documented and inform planning of recovery work.
ï‚· Lead the development of monitoring and evaluation framework, tools and plans for WAN WASH emergency programmes.
ï‚· Support in the development of WAN Monitoring and Evaluation system and processes and ensure its roll out to partner staff in response areas.
ï‚· Ensure that partners are well informed of the systems to generate information from the field for reporting, and build capacity of partners where necessary
ï‚· Ensure that partners are reporting accurately in the agreed templates and deadlines
ï‚· Undertake extensive field visits for assurance of quality implementation of project
ï‚· Conduct required data analysis and present information to support in decision making
ï‚· Work with the M&E and Emergency teams to identify learning, successes and lessons learnt
ï‚· Support to maintain database on emergency response and provide feedback to WAN’s M and E team
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
ï‚· Academic qualifications in a relevant disciplines such as social sciences, development studies etc
ï‚· At least 3 years of experience on Monitoring and Evaluation
ï‚· Good capacity in community mobilization and knowledge of participatory tools and approaches for assessment
ï‚· Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to build good relations both internally and externally.
ï‚· Excellent written and verbal with strong proven skills in English language.
ï‚· Good report writing and data analysis skills.
ï‚· Ability to work under pressure.
ï‚· Flexible, adaptable and patient.
ï‚· Sound IT skills, including Word and Excel.
Desirable:
ï‚· Understanding and experience of the Humanitarian field
ï‚· Preferred experience in WASH/DRR
ï‚· Understanding and experience of mainstreaming issues of gender equity, social inclusion.
ï‚· Ability to train partner staff and to motivate and develop skills of others.
ï‚· Knowledge on using GIS and other analytical tools.
