Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist

On April 25, 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck central Nepal with devastating widespread damage and loss of life. According to the Government of Nepal (GON)’s Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), over 9,000 people lost their lives and over 23,000 people sustained injuries from collapsed buildings and/or landslides. Over 1,227 health facilities were destroyed while an estimated 8,200 public schools were affected. USAID/Nepal has determined through discussions with the GON and other development partners that some of the greatest needs for reconstruction assistance are in the health and education sectors.

We are planning to support the long-term reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in Nepal and are seeking qualified Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist candidates on pending USAID and other opportunities to support architecture and engineering services for the reconstruction of Nepal in sectors such as health, education, transportation, public works, and other infrastructure in the earthquake affected districts.

Job Responsibilities:  

• Update the annual Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP) reflecting forecasted work plan activities and anticipated program performance.
• Draft monthly reports for submission to USAID, coordinating with technical staff for updates on all program activities.
• Assist Chief of Party in drafting, editing and preparing quarterly reports for submission to USAID.
• In co-ordination with other project staff, set up and manage a monitoring and reporting system and undertake all related activities such as data collection, entry, analysis and reporting; participation in the monitoring of project components through site visits, and participation in the planning and execution of annual project reviews.
• Gather information for preparation and writing of success stories for dissemination to USAID and other stakeholders.
• Assist in any other reporting requirements as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in business management, Statistics, engineering or related field.
• Minimum six (6) to 10 years’ project experience in performing monitoring and evaluation tasks with an international organization.
• Prior experience working on USAID or other international donor projects preferred
• Experience working on impact evaluations is a plus.
• Experience working with GIS software, such as ArcGIS, is strongly preferred.
• Fluency in English and Nepali required.
