Job Description

FHI 360, an international NGO, requests applications from the qualified individuals for working as shortterm and long-term consultants for an anticipated COVID-19 Emergency Response under Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Nepal with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with Ministry of Health Population (MoHP). The period for this assignment is from May to October 2021 with possibility of extension. These positions are subject to approval of COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan and availability of funding. In addition to the specific qualifications and requirements outlined below in each position, prospective candidates in all positions should have ability to perform multiple tasks, and to work under pressure with additional time and efforts in emergency/crisis situation independently and proactively

Position: Microbiologist/Molecular Biologist for genome sequencing- 1

  • Ensure adherence to the SOPs/protocols on genomic sequencing in the unit.
  • Accept and prepare DNA/ RNA samples for sequencing library
  • Operate the DNA sequencers as per SOP/protocols
  • Record, analyses and submit collected data to the Unit In charge
  • Perform genome sequencing
  • Carry out routine cleaning and maintenance of sequencers and tools within the sequencing facility

Job Specification

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Microbiology/Molecular biology
  • Experience on molecular testing including RT -PCR, automated DNA/RNA extraction system
  • Experience in implementation of Laboratory quality management system in the molecular laboratory
  • Exposure on genomic sequencing would be of advantage
  • Prior work experience in COVID-19 laboratory would be an advantage
