Job Description

Nepal Agriculture Market Development Programme (NAMDP) is a bilateral initiative between the Government of Switzerland and the Government of Nepal. The project is being implemented jointly by Swisscontact and Center for Environmental and Agricultural Policy Research, Extension and Development (CEAPRED). We invite applications from committed and experienced Nepali citizens for the following positions:

 

Position: Market Developer

Supervisor: Sr. Market Developer

Purpose of the job: This position, under the general direction of the Sr. Market Developer will be responsible for constraint analysis in selected sub-sectors, clusters and rural markets as well as for the design and implementation of a program to address these in the selected sub-sectors, clusters and rural markets

Functions
- Implement activities in order to achieve strategic objectives.
- Contribute to design and implementation of activities in accordance with the relevant strategies.
- Prepare Group outputs in accordance with Communication needs.
- Prepare relevant documentation for MRM process.
- Prepare periodic progress reports on objectives.
- Conduct regular field visits to ensure proper implementation of activities.
- Ensure quality of interventions and impact (during and post intervention phase monitoring).
- Explore opportunities to work with relevant private sector companies and stakeholders as per sector strategy.
- Participate in procurement process as required and track expenditure against contracts.

Responsibilities and Qualification
- Provide feedback on performance of sub-contractors to Senior Market Developer.
- Remain well aware of developments in the relevant sectors.
- Play a mentoring role to reporting staff and guide them.
- Comply with the Project Manual.
- Participate in recruitment process as required.
- Maintain professional working relationships with partners.
- Contribute to a harmonious work environment.
- Master’s degree in management or any other relevant field with minimum 3 years work experience in the field of market development or value chain development.
