Lead System and Network Administrator
Summary: The person will lead system and network administration of the organisation, develop innovative solutions for the use of ICT in remote schools, and deploy ICT infrastructure in schools. This position requires travel to remote areas of the country.
â– Work together with program manager to plan and deploy ICT infrastructure in schools
â– Research and develop innovative and sustainable solutions for the use of ICT to improve the quality of education in public schools
â– Test, configure, and deploy hardware and software
â– Seek solutions that use low-power low-cost hardware and open-source software
â– Administration of primary system
â– Test and develop the School Server software
â– Coordinate in procuring technical equipment
â– End-user technical support for OLE Nepal staff
â– Maintain technical documentation for OLE Nepal office
â– Set up and maintain office servers
â– Perform software quality assurance tasks as needed
â– Carry out technical works related to laptop preparation, server preparation, router configuration and switches for setting up school network
â– Setup battery backup system in the schools
â– Orient teachers on using various technical devices and troubleshooting basic network and system related issues
â– Prepare/Update the report after getting back from the field
â– Research on the devices that use low power and bears low cost with open source software
â– Seek solutions to implementing innovative devices in schools as server and client machines
â– Regularly backup and maintain servers related to the digital library (E-Pustakalaya), software development and office works. Ensure that these servers are up and functioning properly.
â– Update/upgrade these servers as necessary.
â– Ensure that office network is up and running.
â– Prepare technical documentation of the work done
â– End user technical support for OLE Nepal staff
â– Development of android app for e-pustakalaya
â– Prepare technical procurement lists as needed
â– Help in software quality assurance of the content developed by the software development team
â– Guide and manage interns on server setup, router configurations, network setup etc. and help them in their work as needed.
â– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Information Technology or equivalent.
â– Intermediate level Linux and Windows systems administration
â– Basic Linux scripting
â– Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer and networking
â– Inquisitive and interested in testing and applying new technologies
â– Excellent written and oral communication in English and Nepali
â– Willing to travel to remote parts of Nepal to support deployment sites
