Responsibilities:
The Knowledge Management Adviser shall be responsible for producing a KM Work Plan, and presenting findings, conclusions and recommendations to USAID Nepal staff. The KM Assessment will review and document the Nepal Mission’s practices, tools, reports, and systems. The Knowledge Management Adviser will meet with KM stakeholders at the Mission, and discuss both institutional and organizational information challenges to effective KM. The Knowledge Management Adviser will also deliver a detailed, actionable and realistic work plan to implement the KM Assessment’s recommendations, which will maximize Mission use of AidTracker Plus.
The Knowledge Management Adviser may conduct further work beyond the four week consultancy resulting in drafting a training plan, syllabus, trainer’s manual, and course reference for trainings needed to carry out the KM Work Plan. Additionally, as requested by USAID Nepal, the Knowledge Management Adviser may organize and participate in a two-day learning and knowledge-sharing event that will bring together approximately 100-150 implementing partners, Government of Nepal officials, other donors, academics, private sector actors, and other relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in one or more fields related to KM or organizational learning such as public, business or development administration, knowledge management, political science, economics, international development, library science, information management, or a relevant field.
At least eight years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in knowledge management.
Past experience assessing existing KM systems and deriving evidenced based recommendations to improve the systems.
Must be familiar with, and experience in, different types of KM systems.
Demonstrated capacity to translate complex data from multiple sources into a user friendly format to inform decision making.
Deep understanding of KM good practice at USAID.
Expertise in conducting training and capacity building to USAID staff on the topic of KM.
Experience developing and implementing effective and accessible document repository solutions.
Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills, including written, verbal presentation, and facilitation skills applied within multi-cultural settings.
Expertise and/or knowledge of information technology solutions to KM preferred.
Experience with AIDTracker Plus preferred.
English fluency (speaking, reading and writing).
