The American Embassy in Kathmandu is seeking an individual for the position of Refrigeration and A/C Mechanic

POSITION: Junior Technician
OPENING DATE: February 25, 2015
CLOSING DATE: March 11, 2015
WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
NOTE: ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Incumbent performs preventive maintenance as well as major and minor overhaul and repair work on diesel engines installed in the U.S. Mission’s residential and office facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. A successful completion of Secondary School is required. Completion of vocational training or apprenticeship in the electro mechanical or civil engineering or electronic or welding field is required.
2. At least one year of experience in repair and maintenance of electro mechanical or civil or electronic or welding technology related equipment, installed in large buildings and residences is required.
3. Level II (Limited) speaking/reading/writing English is required. Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required. English Language ability will be tested.
4. Good journeyman knowledge of generally accepted practices, engineering codes and regulations related with the electro mechanical or civil or electronic or welding trade is required.
5. The ability to use basic mechanical, electrical, civil, electronic and welding technology related tools is required. The ability to trouble shoot common electro mechanical or civil or electronic or welding trade related problems is required.
6. A valid local driver’s Class A and B license is required.
