The International Education Division is currently accepting applications for an Information Technology Specialist position to support a USAID-funded five -year project to improve early grade reading in Nepal. This is a full-time position with residency in Nepal.

The IT Specialist will manage the use and maintenance of technology required for day to day operational support of project staff and implementation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages and maintains network infrastructure ISP, router, Ethernet switch and PBX phones, maintain spare parts and manage hardware repairs and restoration.
  • Sets up, maintains, and supports the IT infrastructure and equipment for project offices.
  • Ensures Windows and other software is maintained and properly usable.
  • Ensures information is backed up and maintained in accordance with RTI policies and procedures.
  • Configures and trouble-shoots servers, laptops, desktops and printers.
  • Supports the integration of appropriate technologies (such as mobile phones, tablets, GIS, etc.) into project activities and maintenance of project website (as needed).
  • Works under the supervision of Chief of Party for daily operations as well as any technical or compliance matters.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years of experience or Bachelor’s degree and 6 years.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting and troubleshooting a wide range of IT Infrastructure systems (Windows PCs, servers, printers, scanners, backup devices and networks or similar work environment in Nepal).
  • Has experience developing and maintain websites and database systems.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting network issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and fluency in English and Nepali.
