Position: Information Technology (IT) Officer
Location: Head Office, Lalitpur
Application Deadline: 27th January 2017
Starting Date: 15th February 2017
Duration Contract: One year with the possibility of extension
Gross Salary: NRs. 58,8400 per/annum (commensurate upon qualification and experience)

Background:
Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international, non-governmental and humanitarian organization established in 1991 and working in 37 countries around the world. It is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. GNI has fundraising offices in the USA, Korea, and Japan, and an International Cooperation Office in Geneva. GNI currently implements 318 community development projects (CDPs), covering a variety of areas including rural development, income generation, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, child education, protection, disaster risk reduction as well as advocacy and network building to improve the impact of the projects, thereby benefitting approximately 16.8 million people, including 9.6 million children. Good Neighbors International is working in Nepal since 2002 in community development sector.
GNI Nepal has been working in Nepal since 2002 with the objective of improving the lives of poor people, especially children through education, income generating activities, health services, child protection, disaster risk reduction, advocacy and network building. Currently, GNI Nepal has been operating in 17 districts.

GNI Nepal seeks application for the position of IT Officer based in Head Office, Lalitpur. The IT officer is responsible for monitoring and maintaining all IT systems including computer systems and networks of GNI Nepal. The incumbent shall be responsible for installing softwares and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and applications problems. Supporting technologies include but are not limited to: wired and wireless networks, storage systems, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows OS, MS Office Suites, end user workstations, laptops, and various proprietary and commercial software applications and hardware.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 

Equipment

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners.
  • Repairing equipment and replacing parts as required.
  • Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
  • Managing stocks of equipment, consumables and other supplies.

Software

  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades.
  • Maintaining records of software licenses.
  • Tracking license and support contracts to include notification of renewal timeframe to management.
  • Supporting the roll-out of new applications.

Network

  • Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults and responding to breakdowns.
  • Responsible for installation and maintenance of the server.
  • Monitor internet usage and ensure network functionality and availability to all system users.

Security

  • Ensuring security of data, network access and backup systems.
  • Preserving assets, information security and control structures.
  • Maintaining local and server based anti-virus software and in case of virus infection clean out affected equipment.

Users

  • Primarily responsible for timely creation, shifting or removal of user’s Domain and Email IDs.
  • Ensuring computer is set up prior to new hire start date and any related moves.
  • Handle the relocation of computer equipment as a result of office location or personnel changes.

Systems Planning

  • Designing, developing, implementing and coordinating systems, policies and procedures.
  • Acting in alignment with the user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy.
  • Auditing systems and assessing their outcomes.
  • Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports.
  • Testing and evaluating new technologies.
  • Providing suggestions to improve internet surfing experience.

Management of Vendor Services

  • Obtaining replacement or specialist components, fixtures or fittings.
  • Requesting and evaluating services with vendors and service providers.

Routine Administrative Tasks

  • Creating and maintaining inventory, which may include hardware, software and various item such as laser printer cartridges and peripheral equipment.
  • Maintaining documentation of processes, procedures and troubleshooting guides.
  • Identifying problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
  • Handling annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness
  • Enhancing computing experience.

Job Specification:

  • Bachelors in information technology or related subjects with a substantial working experience within relevant fields and have obtained and maintained relevant certificates.
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience, preferably in an INGO.
  • Professional knowledge of network technologies and Windows clients.
  • Experience in handling servers and related access management control.
  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and identify and isolate technical issues.
