Terms of Reference Of Program Intern (Female) for IM Swedish Development Partner, Nepal Country Office
Introduction
Individuell Manniskohjalp (IM) Swedish Development Partner (in short it is called IM) is a Swedish International Development NGO working in the field of economic empowerment/inclusion, social empowerment/inclusion and rights to education, and strengthening civil societies in 12 countries worldwide for the promotion and protection of the rights of marginalized women, youth and girls. It has its International headquarters (head office) in Lund, Sweden. IM has been supporting Nepal’s development and humanitarian efforts since 1980 through Nepali partners. Since 2010, it has been working in Nepal as a legal registered INGO having its own country office in Kathmandu. IM’s mission is to fight and expose poverty and exclusions in its working countries (refer website: www.manniskohjalp.se for more information). IM is a growing international development organization in Nepal. It has been expanding its programs and operations from 2015 with funding support from Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and its own private funding in Nepal with focus towards sustainable development through rights-based development interventions and strengthening civil societies. IM considers gender, environment and climate change and conflict sensitivity as mainstreaming areas in its work at every level. IM works through partnership with local Nepalese NGOs. Our strategic focus in 2019–2023 in Nepal is to promote economic and social inclusions, quality education for girls, promoting civic space for civil societies work, and strengthening CSOs from grassroots to national level. IM’s current working areas are Dang, Kapilbastu, Nawalparasi, Gorkha and Kathmandu districts.
IM is interested to widen the scope of internship program with providing opportunities for learning and developing capacities to young Nepalese female graduates as well as contribute to development with their innovative ideas to contribute to IM’s new strategic plan 2019-23. This helps to diversify our work force in Nepal and motivate young female graduates to contribute the sustainable development in Nepal.
Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to support IM Nepal country team and partners for enhancing the IM’s work in economic inclusion (women and youth-friendly entrepreneurship, fair trade businesses, access to economic rights); social inclusion ( rights to education for girls and marginalized children, campaign against chill marriages, youth mobilization and meaningful participation of marginalized women and youth in decision making processes,
GESI at programs and organizational levels); civic space; strengthening CSOs. Additionally, intern will contribute to mainstreaming areas like gender equality/gender mainstreaming, environmental sustainability, conflict sensitivity and develop learning and capacity building to develop her as young development professional.

We are looking for program intern who can start job from 1 July 2019 and commit for 6 months of service till December 2019 at IM after successful completion of review period of first three months.

The successful candidate will receive monthly stipend of NPR 12000 (twelve thousands) inclusive of tax and benefits as per law and work lunch at office, travel allowances during field visit, and other logistic support as per IM’s human resource policy and rules. Additionally IM also offers relevant capacity building and networking opportunities in development sector for her professional growth.

IM is a growing development organization (INGO/donor) in Nepal and expanding its programs and operations from 2015 with Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) framework funding and IM’s own private funds for Nepal with more focus towards sustainable and rightsbased development interventions. Our strategic focus in 2015–2017 for Nepal is to support Nepalese NGOs (CSOs) in the sectors of economic empowerment, quality education, earthquake recovery/reconstructions and strengthening Nepali CSOs for sustainable development programs. IM’s current working areas are Dang, Kapilbastu, Nawalparasi, Gorkha and Kathmandu districts. Currently we partner with 9 national and district level professional partners (CSOs) in our programmatic portfolios and are planning to expand more from 2017 onward through raising institutional back-donor funding e.g. EU. We support our partner organizations financially as well as promote a true partnership approach by facilitating their organizational and capacity development (OCD) processes to develop them as accountable CSOs towards rights-based development work. IM seeks to appoint urgently an experienced and qualified Programme Officer (FEMALE) for its Education Theme for its Country Office.
