Job Description

CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in the country for the past 37 years. It currently works in 44 districts through various programs on issues relating to improving the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through programs that work on the following themes: food security and climate change; emergency preparedness and DRR; migration and urbanization; sexual reproductive and maternal health; gender based violence; women and girls’ leadership. Marginalized Women and Adolescent Girls are our two primary impact groups. Core priorities include investment in the empowerment and leadership of women and girls, good governance and accountability, working in partnership and alliance with like-minded actors, and evidence-based advocacy.

CARE Nepal hereby invites applications from interested candidates for an internship (2 positions) for 6 months in the Compliance and Sub Grants Management Unit to be based in Kathmandu.

Background:

In line with the global compliance priority, CARE Nepal is committed to enhance the scope of compliance and internal audit function to achieve improved internal control systems, systematic risk assessment procedures and implementation of robust audit and compliance activities across CARE Nepal including the partners. In order to achieve this objective, the need to leverage additional resources to the in-house compliance and sub grants function was realized and agreed.

Purpose of the Assignment:

The purpose of this assignment is to provide support to the Compliance and Sub Grants department in accomplishing the approved audit plan and also to meet the requirement/request received from the project managers for performing internal audit prior to the close out of the project.

This assignment aims to provide an experience that is mutually beneficial to both the Intern and the organization to provide an opportunity to transfer and apply the academic knowledge and theory to an actual organizational environment.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Minimum Bachelor degree in accounting, financial management or those who are undergoing the professional accounting courses like CA and ACCA is preferred. Sound knowledge of Audit functions, people skills and an ability to deal with people, proficient in use of word processing and spreadsheets software packages, report writing is desirable. Ability to take initiative and together with good communication skills in both English and Nepali is required.
