Background

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nepal works with the people and Government of Nepal, and other development partners to pursue equitable and sustainable human development goals through eradication of poverty, increase in livelihood opportunities, improvement in community resilience against conflict, disasters and impact of climate change, while laying down strong foundations for a society based on rule of law with an inclusive and participatory democracy.

The UNDP Nepal office is seeking applications from qualified Nepalese citizens for the internship assignment in the Budget and Finance Unit (BFU).
 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision and management of the Finance Associate, the intern will be responsible for, but not limited to, the performance of the following duties:

  • Prepare a daily list of payment/paycycle request documents submitted to BFU;
  • Assist in preparing and disbursing the cheque payment to the beneficiaries;
  • Arrange the order of voucher payments included in Electronic Fund transfer (EFT) file;
  • Assist in managing and verifying UNDP assets and inventories;
  • Assist in maintaining bar code stickers in UNDP assets and inventories;
  • Create VAT refund claim entries of the invoices issued to UNDP in the system authorized by Inland Revenue Department(IRD);
  • Support in archiving the payment documents;
  • Perform any other duties, as required.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Be enrolled in a Master’s degree or equivalent or higher; or
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or
  • Have completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, but not exceeded one-year from date of completion of the degree.

Experience:

  • Good skills in the usage of computer application especially on MS Excel, Word

Language:

  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and Nepali languages.
