CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in the country for the past 38 years. It currently works in 59 districts through various programs on issues relating to improving the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through programs that work on the following themes: food security and climate change; emergency preparedness and DRR; migration and urbanization; sexual reproductive and maternal health; gender based violence; women and girls’ leadership. Marginalized Women and Adolescent Girls are our two primary impact groups. Core priorities include investment in the empowerment and leadership of women and girls, reaching hard to reach population, good governance and accountability, working in partnership and alliance with like-minded actors, and evidence-based advocacy.
CARE Nepal hereby invites applications from interested candidates for an internship in the Information Technology (IT) and Program Development (PD) Unit to be based in Kathmandu.
1. Internship-Information Technology
CARE Nepal recognizes the importance of Information Technology and its growing use in the development sector. Over the years CARE Nepal has learned that proper support and use of IT is a critical success factor in delivering the mission objectives. The purpose of this assignment is to provide support to the IT department with basic IT functions focusing particularly on developing useful tips, supporting staff with simple queries and orientation.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Minimum Bachelor degree in Information Technology is preferred with sound knowledge of IT functions; proficient in use of word processing and spreadsheets software packages is desirable. Ability to take initiative and together with good communication skills in both English and Nepali is required.
2. Internship-Program Development
CARE Nepal designs programs in line with its core program frameworks and CI priorities together with ensuring programmatic learning through knowledge management and impact assessment. CARE Nepal uses information of the findings gathered from the field, through underlying causes of poverty, vulnerability and conflict analysis during design process, inception reviews, monitoring and evaluation processes.
The purpose of this assignment is to assist the Program Development process of CARE Nepal through conducting in-depth research on funding possibilities for program and initiatives.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Minimum Bachelor degree in Sociology is preferred with an ability to deal with people; proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheets, software packages. Report writing skill is desirable. Ability to take initiative together with good communication skills in both English and Nepali is required.
This assignment aims to provide an experience that is mutually beneficial to both the Intern and the organization to provide an opportunity to transfer and apply the academic knowledge and theory to an actual organizational environment.
