Finn Church Aid in Nepal is implementing both humanitarian assistance and development cooperation projects. FCA is legally registered in Nepal and has fully operational country office in Kathmandu.
The Humanitarian Coordinator is responsible for timely and professional coordination of humanitarian projects in the FCA Nepal Country office (NECO), including fundraising and program development. The Humanitarian Coordinator will be based in Kathmandu. S/he will report to the Country Manager of the FCA Nepal Country Office in Nepal.
Duties and responsibilities:
Take a lead role in timely planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and reporting of humanitarian projects in the FCA Nepal Country Office
Exert an overall responsibility of ACT Appeal project including timely planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation and reporting.
Ensuring the quality of humanitarian response including functioning accountability measures
Supervise, mentor, guide and support humanitarian staff in the office
Support project development, project revision and financial planning
Coordinate, maintain and strengthen the relationships with government authorities, back donors, beneficiaries, and ACT Alliance partners.
Support and guide local project implementing partners and suppliers to execute the plan on time
Maintain and strengthen relationships with partners and other relevant interest groups in NECO
Represent NECO towards external partners (public, private and civil society) in relevant issues when requested by the Country Manager
Contribute to local and international fundraising
Undertake any other duties as designated
Competence and Personal Requirements:
Master’s degree in Social Sciences or any other relevant subjects
Minimum 3 years’ experience in working in humanitarian program related field operation or field activities in developing countries
Proven experience and capacity in humanitarian project management (PMER), including project financial management
Good understanding of and experience with humanitarian quality assurance tools (SPHERE, INEE, CHS) and coordination structures, including cluster coordination and cooperation with government bodies.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and reporting skills
Experience in cooperating with local organizations, international actors and UN agencies
Proven ability to work independently and in co-operation with others in international context and with multicultural team
Flexible and capable of working and living in challenging conditions in a multicultural environment.
Strong English skills to prepare reports, promotional materials and oral presentations
Experience in working in Asian context (preferably Nepal) would be an advantage
Fixed-term contract for six months with three month probation time will be made for this postion.The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience. The position is a family post (spouse only).
