Job Description

Education:

  • Completion of Master's Degree in Development Studies, Disaster Management or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in related field. Detailed and demonstrable understanding of the international humanitarian system and the
  • role of mandated and specialist agencies / actors including OCHA, the Red Cross family;
  • Experience of management, coordination and liaison with disaster affected communities, Government agencies, relief organizations, donors and the other stakeholders;
  • Experience of working with national and/or international humanitarian organizations;
  • Experience in managing surveys and data collection an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali is essential;

Other:

  • Demonstrable understanding of the Grand Bargain and associated workstreams related to accountability to affected populations both internationally and in Nepal;   
  • Nuanced understanding of the humanitarian principles and of other humanitarian norms;
  • Understanding of the disaster response architecture and approaches in Nepal e.g. the role of Ministry of Home Affairs, the Nepal Red Cross Society, the Initial Rapid Assessment tool, the Cluster system, the HCT, the Emergency Response Preparedness process;
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering high quality and analytical reports on time.
