Job Description

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  •  Organize and lead the geohazard assessments according to the requirements, and priority of the Project, province, local government, and NDRRMA, and in line with donor requirements, and good practices.
  •  Coordinate and oversee working relationships with stakeholders concerning geo-hazards at local, district, and provincial while liaising with all stakeholders and NDRRMA team to promote standardization of actions and processes for geo-hazard assessment and communication at all levels.
  •  Develop training manuals, guidance documents, and process-maps for community-level geo-hazard assessment.
  •  Support and coordinate capacity building and technical support activities to government/non-government stakeholders, NHSRP at province, district and local level for a common understanding and standardized application of nationally agreed guidelines and standards.
  •  Lead provincial geohazard technical working groups with inputs on implementation challenges, inconsistencies and/or gaps requiring adjustments/improvement in policies and practices for geo-hazard assessments.
  •  Ensure project documentation is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation of case studies and promising/scalable practices.
  •  Contribute to MEAL requirements by collection and analyses of data, sectoral sharing of learnings and findings.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Master's Degree in Geology is required.
  •  Minimum of 2 years of work experience in project support, ideally in the field of geo-hazard assessment and for an INGO is required.
  •  Experience of GIS (ArcGIS and QGIS) and other map making and analyses tools; development, use and interpretation of maps is required.
  •  Experience on the guidelines for landslide investigation is required.
  •  Fluency in English and Nepali languages
  •  Strong critical thinking and ability to self-initiate erOof4Z BIpnb
  •  Nepali typing skill is a plus
