Key Responsibilities: The Forest Enterprise and Private Sector Promotion Expert is primarily responsible for providing strategic and operational level leadership to deliver the following key outcomes: (i) Engaging and ensuring increased private sector investment in selected forest based value chains; and (ii) Creating local jobs/employments through the scaling up of forest based enterprises across the project districts. The incumbent will work closely with the project team, including LIPOs, LFGs, DFOs, private sectors and other key stakeholders to plan for, implement and promote pro-poor and gender sensitive forest based enterprises. This is a senior position and the position reports to the Area Programme Manager. The position will be based in one of the 3 District Coordination Offices, as appropriate.
Qualification and Experience: Minimum Masters Degree in related field, with minimum 5 years work experience in private sector promotion and forest-based enterprise development in rural settings.

They also form the selection criteria for the right appointment: Strong conceptual and operational experience in private sector promotion and forest based enterprise development; Strong inter-personal, communication, negotiation, facilitation and representation skills; Demonstrated experience in programme planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting; Demonstrated skills in team building; and ability to coach and mentor staff and partners. This is a relatively new area of work, and the situations are variable. Therefore, the incumbent must have capacity and willingness to listen, learn and apply lessons learned with strong analytical skills by understanding the context. The position will face and address problems that are typically non-recurring.
