CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in the country for the past 37 years. It currently works in 36 districts through various programs on issues relating to improving the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through programs that work on the following themes: food security and climate change; emergency preparedness and DRR; migration and urbanization; sexual reproductive and maternal health; gender based violence; women and girls’ leadership. CARE Nepal hereby invites applications from interested candidates for the following full time position in response to the current emergency situation we are faced in Nepal due to the Mega Earthquake. As a humanitarian organization CARE is providing immediate support in the affected areas and requires dynamic and committed individuals to help the organisation provide response and rehabilitation
1. Finance Controller (based in Kathmandu)
Key responsibilities:
The Finance Controller is responsible for the overall finance activities for CARE Nepal Country Office (CO) with special attention to the Emergency Response to ensure financial viability of the emergency intervention and the management of mobilized resources. S/he plays a crucial role in providing high quality financial management information necessary to support an effective humanitarian operation. The position is required to develop, coordinate and administer the CO plans for proper recording, documentation, control, monitoring and reporting financial operations. Specific responsibilities include; assessment of financial needs and cash flow requirements, financial planning (including budget submissions), contract management, national payroll (when necessary), financial reporting and audits. In addition, s/he will need to identify and resolve any financial management problems which may arise, facilitate the involvement of CARE Members in the development and funding of projects related to emergency and others, and provide appropriate training in finance policies and procedures for personnel. S/he works closely with Director – Program Support to ensure that a partnership is developed between Finance, Program and Administration. S/he assumes responsibility for implementation of donor rules and regulations at the CO level.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Chartered Accountant ( ACCA, CPA, CA) or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 5 years experience as a Controller, Senior Financial Manager, Finance Head or equivalent experience in the development field. This profile requires very strong accounting and finance knowledge, analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under time pressure.
