Job Description

Field Coordinator - Media Monitoring for the Nepal Monitor Project with Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP) in Kathmandu, Nepal (with occasional field visits)

 

Key Responsibilities

Manage logistics of district-level newspapers collection and supervise district focal persons. Conduct trainings and quality control of district focal persons for the pilot. Coordinate verification of newspaper reports and support financial reporting for the project.

  • Supervise and manage communication with district focal persons for the collection of local newspaper reports in up to 25 districts
  • Conduct trainings and follow-up quality control for district focal person, including management and logistics
  • Coordinate verification of specific newspaper report
  • Manage logistics and financial reporting for newspaper collection
  • Assist in development of a system to collect local newspaper reporting
  • Assist evaluation of the peace monitoring pilot
  • Assist further conceptual development of the project
  • Occasional travels throughout the country, including remote areas, to select or supervise district focal persons.

 

Your profile

  • You have a masters degree or comparable in social science, journalism or other relevant fields and at least 4 years of work experience in relevant field(s), this includes experience with field trips within Nepal
  • You have experience in conducting trainings
  • You are interested in conflict analysis, violence monitoring, and human rights
  • You have experience in coordinating staff and logistics
  • You have advanced skills in using excel.
  • You have very good English and Nepali skills in speaking, reading and writing
  • You are proficient in entry of Nepali text using Preety or Unicode
  • You are willing to work in a complex political and sociocultural environment and are open and able to do trips, including remote areas
  • You have strong interpersonal communication skills and enjoy to work as part of a team
  • You are citizen of Nepal

 

Duration

Initially for a 3 months pilot. The contract will be extended to 2 years, subject to performance and funding availability for the full project.

Starting in August 2016

Remuneration will be 44,535.00 NRs per month with additional yearly increments and bonuses.
