Name of Position         :           Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) In-charge/Caretaker

Reports to                    :           SCV In-charge/ Program Manager / Director and SCAI

Position Overview

 

SO Nepal (NGO) in partnership with SCAI Australia (INGO) is working in the field of child protection through holistic approach since 2005. 

We strongly believe it is in the best interest of the child to be with their biological family, extended family and community wherever possible. A better life and a better education should not be the reasons for separation of children from their families and communities.

 However, SO/SCAI also provides temporary residential care and support to vulnerable children with no alternative care option. SCV ECA In charge /Caretaker is responsible for organizing the overall extracurricular and socialization activities for the children living in Sunrise Children Village (SCV) along with care arrangement and protection.

 

  1. Major Responsibilities

Overall;

  • Be familiar and adhere to the Mission, Vision, Values, Strategy and Objectives of SO and SCAI.
  • Be familiar with and abide by the rules, regulation, guidelines and policies of SO and SCAI.
  • Be familiar and strictly adhere to the code of conduct of SO and SCAI.
  • Be responsible for the overall care and support children living in SCV Home in Gurje.
  • Be aware and respect the cultural value and gender sensitivity of the society.
  • Ensure SCAI is appropriately acknowledged in all promotion of the programs, both at field level, management and promotional level
  • Keep SCAI informed of all meetings/events in advance that take place in connection to SCV.

Specific:

    1. Office Management

Personal child profile Management

  • Update and maintain child profile, exam result, attendance records of children, health records and financial records etc.
  • Organize birthday, picnic and other relevant scheduled program to SCV home kids
  • Facilitate SCV children to prepare sponsor cards and other cards as per the calendar/schedule
    1. Program Management

Implementation

  • Organize shift wise tuition classes of SCV home children from class 4-8.
  • Make routine of every task of SCV home kids and ensure their active participation in it.
  • Monitor/facilitate/organize the morning and evening pray sessions.
  • Check school home works of all SCV home children and encourage doing this in time.
  • Maintain discipline of SCV kids and they follow SCV routine properly.
  • Ensure the involvement of kids into extracurricular activities.
  • Aware the SCV kids about socialization and ensure their involvement into those activities.
  • Aware/sensitize SCV children regarding child rights and duties.
  • Keep up to date records of all SCV home kids such as educational, health, discipline, hygiene and progress.
  • Deliver moral education to all SCV home kids for their personal development
  • Encourage to all SCV home kids taking part in weekly recreational activities organized by Kalika School.
  • Visit school and monitor progress of children in class and report to Program Manager of SO Nepal.
  • Support other SCV staffs for caretaking work of children during leisure time as and when required.
  • Make sure that children living at SCV maintain their personal hygiene.
  • Any other task assigned by In-charge and Program Manager/Director of SO Nepal/SCAI.

Coordination, Networking

  • Make necessary coordination with school, family members of SCV children and local community for SCV related activities in conjunction with Project Manager/Director.

  • Be a role-model for staff and community and the organization you are representing.
  • Maintain honesty, integrity and accountability of the position.
  • Strengthen the credibility of the organizations in the field, and always ensure that the project, SO and SCAI are accurately and professionally and honestly represented.
  • Must actively demonstrate knowledge of key child protection and foster care.
  • Must ensure open, transparent communication with SCAI and stakeholders.

 

 

 

 

Job Specification

  • Bachelor.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in related sector.
  • Female, young energetic and team player.
  • Able to work as live in staff at residential child care home.
  • Flexible at duty hours.
  • Gender sensitive and child friendly.
  • Fluency in English reading and writing desired.
  • Knowledge of store management highly preferred.
  • Ready to work under pressure and as live in career at child care home.

•To conduct rehabilitation home for helpless and handicapped children and support them to release from hunger, disease and malnutrition
