Job Description

The Role

 

We are looking for exceptional, highly experienced Emergency Response Managers (ERM) to join our Response. You will be responsible for leading and manage the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and associated emergency programs and be the interface between the Emergency Response Team in the field in liaison with the Country ERM. Specifically, the ERM is responsible for ensuring the development and delivery of an emergency response plan including all of its components; Program plan, Funding plan, Communication plan, Capacity and capability plan. You will be responsible for the security and well being of ERT staff. In addition you will be responsible for the quality and effectiveness of Plan’s emergency response. You will be the leader of the Emergency Response Team, responsible and accountable for developing, coordinating and managing all emergency activities.

 

The Person

 

  • Proven relevant humanitarian aid experience in complex and natural disasters
  • High level of all aspects of managerial experience, including managing multi-million dollar budgets
  • Experience in complex decision making and leading a multi-disciplinary, multi-national team under difficult circumstances
  • High level of expertise in representation and negotiation with governments and donors
  • Strong understanding of the humanitarian emergency operating context, including Sphere, the humanitarian system, donors, security, civil military liaison and program management
  • Experienced in project design, planning, proposal writing and project reporting
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player who demonstrates leadership and is able to support and train local and international staff and also able to work with disaster affected communities in a sensitive and participatory manner.

 

Location: Nepal

Type of Role: Fixed term - 1 year (Extendable)

Reports to: Country Director - Nepal
