Reports to: Vice Principal (Head of Elementary School) and Elementary School Coordinator
Qualification, Skills and Aptitude:

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Music),

A minimum of two years of work experience as a Music Teacher,

Strong communication skills and ability to present ideas and subject content in a clear and simple way,

Friendly, personable and engaging demeanor,

A team player who believes in collaborative working style,

Good organizational skills and able to prioritize and multi-task.
Main Purpose of Job
Develop in each student an appreciation of music as part of general culture to teach techniques of vocal and/or instrumental music expression; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of music; to develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music.
Academic Responsibilities

Devise unique curricula for each grade level that they teach and instruct students on how to play instruments and sing, as well as teach them basic music theory and history of music,

Plan and provide learning experiences in music and the performing arts,
-
Supervise students in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills and positive learning attitude,
-
Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities,
-
Work with all teachers to ensure ways to incorporate music not only into the classroom but ways to incorporate what other teachers are teaching in their classrooms into the music classroom,

Plan and organize the formation of a school choir and school band or choir practices,
-
Oversee rehearsals, offering instruction and advice on ways students can improve,
-
Guide students in the proper care and use of school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse,
-
Make minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required,
-
Evaluate each student’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding and assess each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group,
-
Communicate with parents and Heads of departments on student progress,
-
• Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs, such as after-school music club,
-
Check the attendance of students at lessons and follow up on what they are doing as all as on the quality of class work, homework and any other course work,
-
Maintain up-to-date records and forward lesson plans for approval to the concerned Coordinator,
-
Under the guidance and with approval from the Level Coordinator review books and other resources, review syllabuses and contribute to the design, evaluation and development of departmental and/or annual curriculum schemes of work and policy.
Non-Academic Responsibilities

Arrange concerts for students to display their musical talents to family, other students and faculty members,

Assist teachers with class assemblies,
-
Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and instruments to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection,
-
Select and requisition books, instructional materials, instruments, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records,
-
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school,
-
Attend assemblies, meetings, parent events, presentations including on weekends as required,
-
Maintain cordial relation and communication with other school staff members,
-
Ensure effective utilization of resources, materials and equipment. (Closing class room windows, turning off the lights, and locking the door when leaving their room. All rooms should be left neat and orderly.),

Monitor and supervise students during arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal and any other time in order to help enforce school policies and procedures during transition time.
