Project Description Mott MacDonald is managing the DFID-funded programme: ‘Purnima: UK Support to Post-Earthquake Recovery in Nepal’ in four Districts (Gorkha, Dhading, Nuwakot, and Rasuwa). This programme aims to achieve long-term positive change in the lives of people in earthquake-affected regions of Nepal. Job Description |
The Driver will report to the Operations Manager and will perform the services detailed below: - Providing driving services for Mott MacDonald Ltd staff and others involved with our projects as instructed by line manager - Helping programme staff with loading and unloading of baggage, equipment, etc. - Checking basic maintenance (oil, coolant, water, tyre pressure, battery water) regularly. - Accurately maintaining a daily log of all trips, mileage and fuel consumption for monthly checking by line manager. - Assist the Admin Officer to ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated according to schedule. - Completing information required for monthly vehicle reports to be submitted to line manager - Ensuring that all major and minor incidents are reported to the Operations and Programme Manager immediately. - Ensuring that vehicles are taken to the garage in good time when faults emerge. - Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition at all times - Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure so as to be on time; - Ensure regular communications with operations department when in the field; - Collect information of the road and inform the Security focal point or the Operations team; - Alcohol must not be consumed or present whilst on duty - Prepare additional equipment to be brought along according to needs (fuel, stickers, flags, tools, medical kit). - Assist in collecting quotations, support in market survey, small procurements, payment of bills. - Clean store and the items stored - Assist in stock inventory - Dispose damaged materials as instructed by Operations Manager - Any other duties as instructed by Operations Manager Note: This job description reflects the present requirements of the post. Candidate Specification |
- At least 3 years’ experience as a driver with international organisations in Nepal - Fluency in local language spoken in project districts (Dhading, Nuwakot and Rasuwa) would be strong asset. Good written and spoken English is preferred. - Trained or can demonstrate experience in driving 4x4 in difficult terrain - Ability to work effectively under pressure’ - Trainings on first aid, fire-extinguishers and safe driving would be strong assets |
