Job Description
Position Title: Driver
Location/ department: Lalitpur, Nepal with frequent travel to project field sites (Kapilvastu, Kabhrepalanchowk, Sindupalchowk, Kathmandu Districts)
Length of contract: One year (renewable) with three months’ probation period
Responsible to: Logistic – Admin/ Finance Departments
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive office vehicle for the transport of authorized We World staff member, visitors, goods messages, mails, etc.

Collect and deliver goods, mail, documents and other items.

Take care of the day-to-day maintenance of the office vehicles, checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires and so forth

Maintain log books recording daily mileage, official route, destinations, timetable, refuelling as indicated

Keep office vehicles properly clean and maintained, on standby ready for use at any time.

Keep track of regular maintenance and servicing schedule on dedicated documents and arrange for vehicles to be inspected and repaired at the workshop.

Guarantee the presence and the maintenance of all vehicles’ documents, tools, equipment, spares etc

Provide support to We World staff member in the office daily matters as well as in the field mission.

Ensure that the steps required by Nepalese rules and regulation are taken in case of involvement in an accident.

Provide feedback to supervisors after every trip, reporting needs and problems and discuss regularly with them in order to resolve matters such as transport procedures, complaints and security problems.

Ready to perform duties as instructed by the supervisors in case of necessity.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Desired profile:

The candidate will demonstrate to be completely trustworthy, with high sense of responsibility, act in an appropriate professional manner at all times and ability to work independently when required.

The candidate shall demonstrate capacity to carry out the daily duties on time and safely even under stressful conditions.

Availability to start the job on June 1st 2016.
Qualifications required:
-
The candidate should have completed at least School Leaving Certificate (SLC) level.

The candidate should be holder of a valid Car & Motorbike driving licence in Nepal.
Experience required:
-
At least five years of professional driving experience, preferably with private companies or international organizations.

Experience on off road and city driving of 4WD vehicles and motorbike.
-
Good knowledge of the area and current conditions of roads and highways .
-
Previous experience with INGOs and local NGO will be an added advantage.
Job Specification
Necessary skills competencies:
-
Fluency in spoken and written official Nepalese. Desirable the knowledge of other locally used languages such as Newari, Tamang, Indi etc.

Good command in spoken and written English.

Ability to detect and repair minor dysfunctions.

Ability to engage effectively and proactively with staff, communities and authorities.
