Organization profile:
Independent Living Centre (ILC)-Lalitpur is a Disabled Persons’ Organisation (DPO) founded in 2010 by Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to support PWDs considering that disabilities should not prevent people from being actively involved in daily living, decision-making, and to involve in policies and programs which directly concern issues of PWDs.
ILC Lalitpur in partnership with PHASE Nepal is implementing USAID supported project “USAID’s Strengthening and Spreading the Independent Living concept in Nepal Activity”.

DELIVERABLE GOALS: MAIN TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Counselling to PWDs, support in being non-judgmental peers and support in personal development of PWDs.
- Provide PWDs an opportunity to make their own story independently without external influences and achieve their self-esteem.
- Assess PWD’s support needs to coordinate and liaison with concerned authority for them to access those supports.
- Educating PWDs and their family about disable people’s rights and human rights, and act as catalyst for possible access to support
- Assess needs and facilitate in practical support (such as chairs, commodes etc.) and ensure proper skills have been disseminated on how to use these commodities.
- Identify People with severe or profound disabilities through outreach camps and provide basic personal support (including assistive devices and catheters/pads etc.) and who are in needs of more specific support with additional equipment or adaptation of their homes and facilitate for necessary changes.
- Identify PWDs who needs and could be enrolled in economic skills development trainings and coordinate with various institutions, for making them self-sustained and independent.
- Capacity enhancement of PWDs and enable them to live independent life, mainstreaming them with disable people’s organization.
- Identify local stakeholders and conduct awareness raising activities and workshops on disability related issues.
- Support in forming additional Disable people’s organization and enhance their capacity to be sustainable.
- Regular coordination to Project manager and another team member of project.
- Monthly reporting, documentation and record keeping of all activities.
- In addition to above listed responsibilities perform other tasks as directed by the concerned authorities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Bachelor Degree or above in social sciences or any other relevant discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of working with PWDs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel to various project areas such as Biratnagar, Makwanpur, Kailali
- Knowledge of Disability Rights and human rights
- Experience of designing or executing advocacy related activities.
- Availability and willingness to travel and stay in isolated areas.
- Flexibility and ability to work on one’s own.
- Must be people with disability (PWD) with any category but able to conduct as per mentioned
Benefits:
Gross salary includes Provident Fund, Gratuity and Festival Allowances. We also offer Medical Insurance of Rs. 2,25,000/- that covers employee and his/her dependent family members up to three, and GPA Insurance of Rs. 2,000,000/-.
