Job Description

The U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu is seeking an individual for the position of Customs Expeditor.

This position is located at Birgunj.

POSITION: Customs Expeditor, FSN-6; FP-8
OPENING DATE: March 9, 2017
CLOSING DATE: March 23, 2017
WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
NOTE: ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS (See Appendix for definition) MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
This position is located at Birgunj. The incumbent expedites all incoming and outgoing surface shipment which includes office supplies, official and personal vehicles, and fuel for the Mission through Indo/Nepal border at Birgunj. The incumbent obtains sales tax refund and excise tax exemption certificates for refund. The incumbent coordinates all customs clearing activities and provides regular updates to Kathmandu office.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. EDUCATION: Completion of Secondary School is required.
2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years of work experience in shipping and transportation is required.
3. LANGUAGE: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required. Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required. English language ability will be tested.

4. KNOWLEDGE: Good knowledge of Nepali and Indian customs rules and regulations is required.
