POSITION TITLE: Counter Trafficking in Persons (CTIP) Specialist (national position)
LOCATION: Kathmandu, Nepal, with frequent visits to 10 districts in central, midwest and far-west Nepal
REPORTS TO: Deputy Chief of Party
CONTRACT LENGTH: 12 months
BACKGROUND:
Nepal is a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking for sexual exploitation, forced labor, and exploitation for organ removal. A 2014 report estimates that 230,000 Nepalese are subject to slavery at any given time, and nearly 30 percent of the economically-active population is unemployed or underemployed. Hamro Samman is a five-year program generously supported by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development and implemented by Winrock International. It seeks to build the capacity of and facilitate coordination among the GON, civil society, and private sector to combat human trafficking in Nepal.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Winrock International seeks a CTIP Specialist to successfully lead the Hamro Samman project’s counter-trafficking activities with civil society organizations and provide technical expertise to the project. The CTIP Specialist will oversee CTIP activities implemented by the project’s civil society partners and provide high level technical expertise, oversight and strategic direction to the project’s programming on CTIP. The CTIP Specialist will have a deep understanding of the drivers of trafficking and unsafe migration, a commitment to survivor-centered approaches to CTIP initiatives, and an enthusiasm for driving the Hamro Samman project forward to achieve meaningful and sustainable impact that reduces human trafficking. S/he will work closely with Deputy Chief of Party to ensure effective, efficient and timely implementation of project activities and will manage a small team of national staff.
