Job Description

Tasks
Prepare regular analytical reports based on the Peace Monitoring data-set and additional research. Prepare thematic reports and blog entries on violence, conflict, human rights, threats to HRDs and related fields in Nepal. Present findings in stakeholder meetings.

  • Analyse trends for peace and human rights related topics using the Nepalmonitor.org Peace Monitoring dataset.
  • Draft short reports, briefs and blog entries on related topics in English and Nepali
  • Conduct research on relevant topics
  • Present findings in stakeholder meetings attended by civil society, government, donors and representatives of the international community
  • Organize regular stakeholder meetings and dissemination of reports
  • Closely follow political dynamics and trends related to peace, conflict and human rights in Nepal.

Your profile

  • You have Masters’ degree in journalism, political or social science or other relevant fields and at least 4 years of work experience in relevant field(s)
  • You are interested in conflict analysis, violence monitoring, and human rights and have a good network with relevant stakeholders.
  • You have experience in drafting and editing publication ready reports in English and Nepali
  • You are proficient in Nepali typing using Preeti and Unicode.
  • You have experience in conducting qualitative research
  • You have advanced skills in using excel, some experience in quantitative analysis or GIS preferred
  • You are detail-oriented
  • You are willing to work in a complex political and sociocultural environment.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy to work as part of a team
  • You are citizen of Nepal

Duration

The contract is initially for 1 year with 3-month probation period, starting in February 2017

An interesting and innovative mission - implementing and further developing new mechanisms for peace and violence monitoring and analysis, in conjunction with a well-respected international non-governmental organization.

Remuneration will be 48,989 NRs per month with additional yearly increments and bonuses (if the position is extended).
