The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified Nepali Nationals for the following position based in Kathmandu.

Position Title: Community Health Worker - 2 positions
Classification: SAI, 3 months with possibility of extension, ungraded (equivalent to Grade – 4)
General functions:
Under the overall guidance of the IOM Nepal Emergency Health Team Leader for administrative matters and under the direct supervision of the Referral and Public Health Focal Point for technical matters, the incumbent will be responsible for implementation of Health Referrals and Assisted Voluntary Return of Displaced Populations and Community Health Promotion in partnership with the Camp Coordination and Camp Management unit:
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with the IOM physicians and nurses, conduct case work interviews and help prepare patients in the pipeline for discharge (including but not limited to, preferred communities of return, ensuring family members are aware, determine closest health care facility, availability of NFI’s upon discharge etc)

Undertake vulnerability assessments in line with IOM guidelines to determine level of assistance required

Assist in health promotion activities in IDP sites and sites of return including, but not limited to, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, water sanitation, prevention of communicable diseases, TB and maternal and reproductive health

Assist in the mapping of local health services and liaise with local health staff

Train partners in referral pathways for health referrals and key messages for health promotion

Prepare short reports on activities conducted and identified health risks in the community

Coordinate closely with camp management and camp coordination colleagues regarding gaps and priority sites for intervention

Assess the health facilities in places of return and develop tools for returnees to improve access to services

Coordinate with relevant internally units including Psychosocial Support and Protection

Other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor/s
General Requirements:
Required Qualifications and Competencies:

Secondary education Bachelor degree in health sciences or relevant discipline will be an advantage

At least two years working in community health

Flexibility, ability to work in difficult situations. Experience working with NGOs an advantage

Good communications skills are a must/asset.

Computer literacy, report writing ability and good administrative skills.
