KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the overall supervision of the WFP Nepal Country Director and the direct supervision of Engineer Project Manager the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide support to Engineer operations and activities focussed on upgrading trails in remote areas
  • Provide support to engineer operations in the form of socio-economic analysis of surrounding environments of the trails that are being upgraded and/or rehabilitated
  • Provide support to engineering on GESI principles to ensure they are included in all trail improvement
  • Provide support in managing contracting activities including performance monitoring and measurement
  • Support Engineer staff in providing training/guidance to local authorities and local population in the principles of maintenance of trails
  • Provide recommendations and support, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of enquiries with excellent client service mind-set
  • Understands the requirements of implementing RAO
  • Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting on outputs to facilitate informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to the stakeholders
  • Take appropriate action to resolve operational issues, escalating complex issues to the supervisor.
  • Ensure information accuracy to enable informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations and guidance and monitor the management of risks
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support engineer/logistics operations management and contribute to effective service delivery.
  • Undertake other activities as required by the Head of Engineering Unit.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. First University degree is desirable.
Language: Fluent in both reading and writing, in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.
